3 Spooky Snacks & Spirits any Halloween Party
Entertaining is becoming one of my favorite hobbies as I enter my early twenties. Whether we are playing cards on the back porch or mixing hand-crafted cocktails to celebrate, I love hosting for my friends even if there’s a single person on the guest list. Today, I am sharing a few of my favorites for fall festivities.
The Red Eye: A Party Starter
Inspired by the Kamikaze from Cointreau.com, this shot is a fun take on an overnight flight. Just double the amount to make this into a scary, sip-able cocktail.
Ingredients
.25 oz of fresh lime juice
.25 oz of Cointreau or Triple Sec
.75 oz of Vodka
Dash of Grenadine
Jarred Maraschino Cherries
How to Make it
Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice
Shake until condensation forms on the shaker
Pour into your favorite shot glasses
Add a Dash of Grenadine and a single Maraschino Cherry
… And you’re done!
Something Salty, Something Sweet
I’m all about a fun cheeseboard, but not all my friends have the taste for one. Usually, the crackers are what escape the table first. This snack may seem simple, but I promise you that it’ll all be gone by the end of the night.
Rice Cereal Treats
5 cups Rice Puff Cereal
5 oz of Mini Marshmallows
⅓ cup Salted Butter
Dash of Vanilla Extract
How to Make it
Melt marshmallows over medium heat
Once melted, remove from heat to add vanilla and butter
Then, stir in rice cereal
Once fully combined, press into a greased & lined 8x8 pan to cool
Cut into squares with greased knife for easy slicing
What else you’ll need
White melting chocolate
Dark chocolate
Halloween sprinkles
Food coloring
Let’s Assemble…
Arrange rice cereal treats and skinny pretzels on wax paper
Melt chocolate in separate heat safe bowls
Color white chocolate with colors such as orange, purple, & green
Place different color of chocolate into zip-tight bags
Cut small hole in the corner of the bags to drizzle across treats
While chocolate is wet, decorate with sprinkles over chocolate
Let chocolate set on the counter before arranging treats
Refrigerate momentarily to expedite the process
Purple Twisted Haze
Lastly, your guests are going to want something refreshing to follow up all the saltiness and sweets from earlier in the night. This cocktail is sure to kick the party up a notch and add a little fright to the fun night.
Ingredients
Small Handful of Blueberries
Lemon Soda (not meant to be pretentious but the kind that comes from Italy is the best)
1.5 oz of Vodka
How to Make it
Muddle blueberries into cocktail shaker
Add ice and Vodka
Shake until condensation forms on shaker
Double strain if possible into a rocks glass filled with ice
Fill to top with lemon soda
Don’t forget that your friends came to see you, so abandon any pressure to entertain. Chatting in the kitchen, throwing on a movie, or playing a simple game by the fire is more than enough.
