Bloody Valentine
Manifesting heartbreak just to spend Valentine’s Day with your girlfriends this year? The kind that makes you listen to Red (Taylor’s Version) so much, you make her top 1% of listeners for the 5th year in a row?
This cocktail is perfect to share with your somebody and incorporates our favorite late in the season citrus we have been dying to make use of. I was lucky enough to have oranges in my backyard to use for this recipe. Please make sure you #OvenBakedbyBianca to show me how you made this!
Makes 1 drink
Ingredients
8 oz. can of blood orange soda or flavored citrus soda of choice
1.5 oz vodka
.5 oz Cointreau (substitute: Triple Sec)
.25 oz simple syrup
Squeeze of half an orange (blood orange if you have!), slice the other half for garnish
Squeeze of half a lime
1 teaspoon of grenadine
¼ cup of cranberries
3 tablespoons of sugar
How to Make It
Garnish Prep
Take orange slices and dry out with a paper towel for 15 minutes.
Pour three tablespoons of sugar across the slices.
Using a kitchen torch, brulee the slices until desired color is achieved.
If you do not have a kitchen torch, simple orange slice garnish works just fine.
The Drink
Chill a coupe or highball glass in the freezer.
Muddle cranberries in a cocktail shaker or tall glass
Add vodka, Cointreau, simple syrup, orange juice, and lime juice to the cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake.
Use a cocktail strainer to pour drink into the glass.
Top off drink with the soda and a dash of grenadine.
Lastly, add your orange slide and a couple cranberries for floating on the top.
